Niall Jones Corporate Broking

Having developed a taste for Capital Markets and an understanding for how the various departments within a securities firm work together to service both institutional and corporate clients, I decided that I wanted to enter the industry. I spent several years in investment banking and corporate finance in London before taking the opportunity to re-join my former employer – testament to Davy’s status as Ireland’s top securities firm.

Upon joining the Corporate Broking team, I soon found that all the familiar faces were still there and working their way up the ranks. I was fortunate to join at an exceptionally busy time – the latter stages of the Celtic Tiger – with an unprecedented volume of high profile IPOs, fundraisings and corporate buy-backs during my first 18 or so months.

In the aftermath of the boom, Davy set about consolidating its position in the home market. The decision was taken to build out the research, distribution and corporate broking product range internationally as market conditions changed and as we wanted to remain relevant to our institutional client base.

We now cover and service more international corporate clients than domestic, although managing the domestic franchise and key relationships is still very much the core of what Davy does. In recent years we have seen a number of corporate restructurings, rights issues, placings and more recently,  IPOs as confidence has re-emerged in the Irish economy.

Overall, I would have to rank Davy as one of the most entrepreneurial, meritocratic and robust organisations in the sector. The company, despite being the largest securities firm in Ireland, has a flexible and can-do attitude to tackling new opportunities which makes it an exciting place to work.
