MGM/GVC’s partnership with Yahoo Sports addresses a key question regarding how the former will look to build its US customer base. It now has its own ‘media deal’ that will provide access to more valuable cohorts of sports-enthusiastic customers. The benefits of the partnership, like others, will become apparent over time. However, GVC’s approach in the nascent US sports betting market is now clearer and stronger. Importantly, it also provides confidence regarding MGM’s commitment to the sports betting opportunity. There is little disclosed in relation to the financial terms of the deal.
