Government confirms general election date of November 29th

As widely expected, the Irish government has confirmed plans to hold a general election in just over three weeks’ time. For a long time, November looked like ideal timing for an election, based on a broad confluence of favourable tailwinds. The two main parties in current coalition, Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil, look most likely to form the next government. The short campaign ahead will likely cover issues including housing, immigration, the cost of living, public spending efficiency, tax cuts and infrastructure.
