The mortgage market had a strong finish to 2024 with increases across both drawdowns and approvals in Q4, despite supply constraints. Increased housing commencements and government targets for increased supply should drive mortgage levels, while falling interest rates could further support both new lending and the existing home market. With drawdowns ahead of our expectations, we will likely increase our 2025/2026 forecast modestly following today’s update.
