Assets / Investing

Yes, your assets will be safe at all times. Davy is Ireland's leading investment firm with over 95 years in business and a trusted partner for our clients. Davy is authorised to hold client assets and is subject to the Client Asset Regulations and is supervised by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI). Your assets are held separate to Davy firm assets, in separate accounts segregated from Davy’s own activity thus ensuring that your assets are not co-mingled with Davy firm assets.

The safeguarding of Client Assets is a priority of the Firm and is subject to significant internal oversight from the Davy Risk team which specialises in Client Asset compliance. Davy has a standalone Head of Client Asset Oversight who reports, on a quarterly basis, to the Davy Risk and Compliance committee on client asset matters, in addition to reporting to the CBI.

Finally, an annual client asset examination is performed by KPMG and the audit report is submitted to the Davy Board and the CBI. The audit report outlines KPMG’s opinion on the Davy controls and adherence to the Client Asset regulation and Davy’s own policies.

At Davy, our wealth management service is designed to provide a comprehensive and personalised solution to meet your financial needs. Your Davy Adviser will work with you to explain the Davy offering and process. Before we proceed to offer services at Davy for the first time, as part of our onboarding process, we need to ensure that we have sufficient AML documentation in place. We will also engage with you to complete our Investor Profile document so that we have current and accurate information in relation to your circumstances, needs and objectives. This is to ensure that we can make suitable recommendations to you in the context of your individual requirements.

Having assessed your Investor Profile and your current investments, we will then provide you with a Client Suitability Report which outlines our agreed investment service and strategy, including fees and charges. Once this is in place, your Advisor will be in a position to recommend suitable investments to meet your needs and objectives, including in relation to any money you have available to invest.

In terms of investment solutions, you will have access to the full Davy open architecture investment platform which houses our broad suite of funds, and other direct investment opportunities.

You should ensure that you keep Davy informed of any changes in your personal circumstances or investment objectives etc in order that we can consider the implications for your portfolio and the ongoing suitability of your investments.

Your assets are held in nominee entities set up by Davy for holding client assets or with an approved Third Party. This means that the asset is not listed on the Balance Sheet of Davy.

Client assets are not co-mingled with Davy Firm assets and client assets are not used for firm activities. Within our systems, we record you as the holder or beneficial owner of the assets. Your assets are reconciled as stipulated in the regulations.

When you place your assets with Davy, they are recorded on our internal records on your account and identifiable as client assets. The assets are then held with various custodians depending on the underlying asset type.

A list of approved Third Parties can be found at: https://www.davy.ie/legal/client-assetinformation
