Company Profile
Tate & Lyle, which has its headquarters in London, was founded in 1921. Its roots can be traced back to a number of companies established in the middle of the 19th century focused on sugars in Europe and corn milling in the US and Europe. Today its principal activities are corn wet milling (starch is extracted from corn and converted into a range of food and industrial ingredients) and the manufacture of the high-intensity sweetener sucralose (brand name Splenda). Tate is a leading operator in the corn wet milling sector in the US and has other manufacturing facilities in Europe and Southeast Asia.
