Today’s official population and migration estimates show ongoing rapid population growth of 1.9% in Ireland in the year to April. This aligns well with last week’s employment results for Q2 2024, which showed an improving profile of educational attainment in Ireland’s workforce. The release is consistent with our above-consensus outlook where we forecast a population of 5.9m by 2030. This also supports our analysis showing 85,000 units a year will be needed to address Ireland’s housing shortage in terms of dwellings per adult.
