This is likely to be the last trading update from Travis Perkins before the arrival of Gavin Slark as CEO. The challenges that await him are well understood, not helped by a persistently sluggish operating backdrop. But at least he will be joining at a time when revenues appear to have stabilised, with like-for-like sales growth achieved in Q3 for the first quarter in three years.
