DAVY VIEW
Both lending and deposit betas have been at, or close to, zero since the European Central Bank (ECB) began to increase rates in June. This will now change but only modestly initially, and we would expect increases across banks in this quarter on both mortgages and deposits. Due to the structures of the Irish markets, betas were lower and slower than elsewhere in Europe in the last ECB cycle and we would expect this to remain the same in the current cycle.
