International Paper (IP) is the largest US producer of fibre-based (corrugated box) packaging, with approximately 30% of US market share. IP is US listed and a constituent of the S&P 500 index. In April 2024, IP made a recommended offer to acquire European packaging group DS Smith, set to complete in Q4 2024. On a pro-forma basis, the combined enlarged 'International Paper & DS Smith' packaging group will have over US$30bn annualised revenues, making it one of the largest global packaging groups.
